OSCAR "el tico" MONTERROSO

Oscar “El Tico” Monterroso is the Co-Owner, Founder and El Jéfe of Tico Productions, LLC a full-service, multi-cultural,  multi-media production company located in Downtown Kansas City Missouri.  Tico Productions LLC has produced a wide array of external messaging marketing videos, radio broadcasts, short films, graphic design, logo animation, and photography for a diversity of clients locally, nationally and internationally. In 2016 Oscar and his wife founded Tico Sports, and the company became the official Spanish broadcaster for the Kansas City Chiefs, and established a third-party solution for sports teams, seeking to build their Latino audiences.  The sports platform expanded quickly with the addition of the Oakland Raiders in June 2017, the Jacksonville Jaguars and San Jose Sharks in 2019. Currently Tico Sports produces the Spanish broadcast for the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars and Minnesota Vikings, and at the collegiate level,  for KU Basketball and Football, Nebraska Huskers and K-State.

 

 

Prior to opening his businesses, Oscar was an accomplished news photojournalist for KMBC TV9, Univisión 23 in Dallas Texas, Telemundo, and as a weekend sports anchor for Univisión KWEX 41 in San Antonio, Texas.

In addition to his commercial clients, Oscar contributes his time and talent to several non-profit organizations through various creative mediums, including video fundraising, and auction donations of his photographs, He is a board member of Metropolitan Community Colleges Foundation, Turn the Page KC, and the KCK Chamber of Commerce.

Oscar earned his Master degree in Communications from Incarnate Word University, and his undergraduate degrees from Southern Nazarene University, and studied Advertising at Pan-American University in Costa Rica.

Oscar was born in Costa Rica to Guatemalan parents, and grew up traveling throughout Central America with his family due to missionary work with the Church of the Nazarene.  It was at the age of nine, he discovered his passion for the arts, when he began writing, directing, and creating a puppet show for church members and vacation bible school.  Soon after, he knew his path would be to tell the important stories that have the ability to move people to action, through the lens of seeing, hearing and feeling.
